Published in 2026 by Guacamole Publications, Twenty-Two Views of Manitoulin is a 43-page intimate art book capturing the rugged, isolated beauty of Manitoulin Island.
Written and illustrated by James Pineault, with a foreword by Phillip Gevik, the collection documents the striking geological and atmospheric shifts of the region.
"The body of work enclosed in this book communicates a spirituality that is rare... James has a natural, innate feeling for the sky, water, earth, and people of the Great Lakes. His interpretation of the surrounding landscape is soulful."
— Phillip Gevik, Fine Art Dealer & Collector
Every plein air watercolor in this volume was created using Anong Beam's handmade paintstones, incorporating raw local materials such as natural hematite and maple sap into the pigment. From the windswept limestone alvars of Providence Bay to the quiet, sheltering shores of Burnt Island Beach and the vast open waters overlooking Meldrum Bay, these images offer an authentic visual record deeply tied to the land's physical chemistry and untamed topography.
